Emerging Artist

We have a triple-threat on our hands at #20 this week with producer, singer, and rapper Kent Jones. After learning music, including studying jazz, at a young age Jones got his start in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida working with local artists, most notably Ace Hood. The young producer found guidance from Fat Joe and Cool & Dre among others, and DJ Khaled saw promise and brought Jones on board with We the Best Recordings.

The cut Don’t Mind, originally released on his Tours mixtape last summer, is getting him attention online, in clubs, and via spins at Urban radio. He was also featured on Khaled’s 365 along with Ace Hood and Vado for the NBA 2K16 video game soundtrack. With his latest song Episode777 making its way into the world and a trove of unreleased material poised to strike at any time, 2016 will be looking good for Kent Jones.
