#5 Emerging Artists chart
#373 Ultimate 100 Artists chart
Late last summer Chris Lane and his genre-bending falsetto started generating some activity that caught our attention. When his Fix EP was released in November, he Debuted on the Emerging Artists chart and in his second week was a Big Mover up 24 spots to #15. At the time we thought we might just have a fresh Country music star forming and the ensuing months have proven that out.
The standout baseball player from Kernersville, NC picked up a guitar and worked his way up the ladder by doing covers and playing shows before eventually writing original material and releasing a DIY album. After a few years of growth Chris signed on to Big Loud Records, the label grown from the established management, publishing, and production company Big Loud Mountain, perhaps best known for developing Florida Georgia Line.
He made his debut with the single Broken Windshield View in June 2014, laying solid groundwork with fans online, and has since earned rave reviews from Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” Young Hollywood’s “Artist To Watch” list, HELLO! Magazine’s “People You Will Be Talking About” and Glamour’s “Music We Love.”
Chris has opened for a lot of terrific acts, including The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young, and Brantley Gilbert. He hit the road with Florida Georgia Line on their This Is How We Roll tour and supported Dustin Lynch’s Hell Of A Night circuit along with Tyler Rich last fall and winter. Now Chris has upgraded from the van to the bus as he rolls across America with Emerging Artist graduate Kelsea Ballerini as support for Rascal Flatts’ Rhythm & Roots outing, which runs into October.
The new LP, Girl Problems, streets toady, August 5th and features Lane’s irresistible lead single Fix, which is currently approaching the coveted #1 spot at Country radio. Named after the distinct thread of romantic obsession throughout the project, the album was produced by studio ace Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen).
With radio just about ready for a second single (there is a fun For Her lyric video promotion happening) it looks like fans are in for a lot more modern, super-danceable pop Country from this Emerging Artist.
- Fix is currently #2 at Country radio with nearly 12,000 spins and over 61 million audience in the last week
- 174,200 spins and 873.8 million audience to date
- The video for Fix has been played 63 times in the last week across CMT and Great American Country outlets
- 9 million YouTube plays, 4.6 million of which are for Fix
